John 3:16

For God so loved

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 is an introduction to why, and how much God loves.
For God so loved can be rephrased as:
Because God loves so much.

Therefore, because He loves so much – that love compels Him.
Love is an action word. We can see it on display in compelling ways here in John 3:16.

1. He gives

His love compels Him to give.

“For God so loved the world that He gave.”

He gave us life
He gave us salvation
He gives forgiveness and restoration.

2. He invested personally

His love compels Him to give His own

“He gave his one and only Son.”

He gave his most precious possession.

That shows how much.

He is personally invested in us.

3. His love is inclusive

His love compels Him to include. That means you and me.
He doesn’t discriminate. He welcomes everyone no matter your creed or color – your background or your bad behavior.

4. He has made it easy to experience eternal life.

“Believes in Him.”

His love compels Him to make it easy
Just believe. You don’t work for it or earn it. Only believe. It is free of charge.

5. He saves

“May not perish, but have everlasting life.”

His love compels Him to save.
God made mankind in His image. Unfortunately, man rebelled against God. Yet, instead of letting man suffer the eternal consequences of that bad decision – He reconciled man to himself, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Making it possible for us to be restored back to fellowship with Him. There is no other way for us to find salvation.

6. His love never ends.

“Everlasting life.”

His love compels Him to keep on loving
It never ends.
It will go on for eternity to eternity.

These promises still hold true today. If you’ll believe in Jesus and accept him as personal Lord and savior today, you can have eternal life this very moment.

Would you like to experience that today?

Can we pray with you?
